Welcome to the website of
West Wyalong High School

West Wyalong High School is a highly respected comprehensive High School that encompasses all that is positive in country education. It has been recognised at all levels for its excellent and innovative programs and its strong commitment to student welfare. In the last decade it has been acclaimed as Best Practice in Middle Schooling (1999), received Directors General’s Awards for School Achievement in Curriculum and Student Welfare (1997) and as an outstanding community comprehensive School (2003). West Wyalong High has also been recognised in academic publications for its middle school and vocational education programs.

Located in rural south western NSW, the school set in pleasant surrounds with attractive classrooms provides a caring and supportive environment in which students can develop in all areas. Academic excellence is pursued across a broad curriculum supported by qualified specialist teachers. Strong links with the local TAFE campus adds to this breadth. Success has also been seen in a wide range of sports offered at the school with students representing the region, state and nation in various fields. The school’s Willow Glen Goat Stud has also seen success at a State and National level and is a regular competitor in local and city shows. Cultural opportunities abound and many students also take up the opportunity to be involved in the school band, singing group, debating teams and public speaking competitions and eisteddfods.

Student welfare is an undoubted focus area with the school welfare team meeting daily and many programs are run to meet identified needs of students. The work of our special needs team has also been recognised in the region with other schools sending staff to learn from the work done at West Wyalong High. The school also prides itself on its strong links with parents and regular communication ensures that they are well informed on the progress and well beingof their children.

Further information about the school and its programs can be found in the school handbook and latest annual school report through the school information link above or you contact the school directly.
